What makes you powerful?
Finally overcoming my insecure child and
learned to love myself fully...mistakes and all!
Mary

It's hard sometimes for me to acknowledge
I am powerful. Listening and trusting my own intuition and voice. Also
trusting the universe that things will fall into place as long as I'm
working hard. it's about trust in a sense. Perseverance - if you want
something you have to continually work towards it.

I
am powerful because I have come to realize that you cannot simply rely
on “hope”. If you are only hopeful, you may be allowing yourself to
only be a passive participant in your own life. You have to be
determined. Determination is taking an active part in your life and in
the lives of those around you. Determination is all about focusing on
what you believe needs to be done in the world and then taking action to
make it happen. This is a reasonably recent realization, and it is very
empowering indeed.

At 37 years old, finally realizing that the things that
make me feel my very weakest are actually the things that push me to
be a better person and more powerful woman. Here are a
few of the things that make me powerful: realizing
that my lack of understanding everything in life gives me reason to
search for the answers; that there is no truth at all if you lie to
yourself; that when faced with a challenge that seems too hard to
face, facing it, instead of walking off in defeat; standing my
ground and being and loving myself when others want me to give in
and "change" myself; not being afraid to love, even when it hurts;
and most importantly, knowing that life is like a big room filled
with windows and each view is equally incredible, unique and
beautiful...

"I am powerful because I
am so loved.
Being loved this much gives me incredible freedom. Having this much
freedom allows me to take risks. Taking risks means doing revolutionary
things like saying "I love you" and "I was wrong" and "I can do that." Being
able to say those things, and mean them with all of the strength in my
five-foot frame, changes the world. I thank God each day for this love. And
then He
gives me more.
Dawn Miller,
Vermont
I've never thought of myself as powerful, and still don't. anything that I
am or ever will be comes from God. I know that's not the answer you
want, but that's the truth as I see it. I am sure my children have a
part in it too."

"I am empowered by past experiences
and trust in the Universe."
Claudia, Massage Therapist

"I am powerful because I continue to learn how to better listen to myself and honor what I hear."
Rena, Humane Educator

"I am powerful because I have the ability to think positively and
have a good network of friends and family, and my husband - those
connections with people."
Victoria, Playground Sales Representative,

"My power is infectious"
Heidi, Artist and world traveler,

"I am
powerful because.... I am a woman, a Warrior, an
Omega, a Meditater, a constantly Aspiring
teacher, and Natural to the core."

AGE!
When I say AGE, I mean that with my age I have been able to experience so much
in life which has given me my power. I really never felt as powerful before in
my life as I do NOW. I have been able to evaluate my life and the choices that I
have made. I postponed marriage and family until I was really ready. I
have had several different careers such as a social worker barely making enough
to pay my rent to working in the medical sales industry where I made a very
comfortable living and was able to travel all over the west coast in a pretty
comfortable "lap of luxury." Of course, now, I am a barista and get to see
wonderful people each and every day. I have taken on marathon training and raced
mountain bikes throughout my twenties. I have found wonderful friends in
different parts of the country through out my entire life. I have established a
wonderful family whom I love very much in my thirties. I NOW feel the POWER as
I approach forty to feel comfortable with myself which makes me so HAPPY with
all the decisions that I have made along this road called life. This has made
me a powerful woman!
Michele, Barista and Business Owner
James Island, South Carolina
"I am powerful because I am me. I am
someone whom is sincere and accepting of others, a good friend, a
compassionate friend, a true friend, and someone others can depend on.
I am powerful because God made me and he made no mistakes in making me.
I am powerful because of my brother whom has downs and he gives me the
privilege of being with him everyday. I am powerful because of my
daughter and all that she is and how amazing she is. I am powerful
because I have managed to be out for 16yrs and be proud of whom I am and of
whom I am still becoming.

In Your Words
April 2, 2008
I saw you in the mirror
Instead of smiling at your pretty face
I rushed away
Thinking you could be better...
I didn't honor how beautiful
You have become
In your day-to-day tasks
I have forgotten your courage
Although you've become wise
The little child in you needs
Tenderness and friendship
And connection
You have forgiven your past
And broken through those chains of guilt
You are a true crusader
A warrior
You deserve infinite happiness
And freedom
And love
Never Give Up On Yourself
Mary, Charleston
March 3, 2008 -
Staring at a blank page…after what seemed like would
be never ending writers block – I was thrilled at the
opportunity to participate in the Powerful Women
Writers Muse Workshop. The energy and creativity of the
women that came to the workshop was wonderful, meeting most
of them for the first time it was a really comfortable and
positive atmosphere. The lessons were fun and so different
from what I had anticipated proving that not only is Dakota
a gifted writer but an equally gifted teacher. I
really would have enjoyed spending more time experiencing
new forms of expression through the exercises and the group.
I can’t wait for the next workshop! The best part is – I am
no longer staring at a blank page.
