Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not
reach them, but I can look
up and see their beauty, believe in them,
and try to follow where they lead."

powerful women
| One day after having gone
through a horrible break up Dakota found that she had become
so immersed in her former relationship that she had lost
touch with her social circle of friends. Never being one to
"follow" and while embracing an entrepreneur spirit, Dakota
decided to advertise in a local rag a "coffee social for
women". That first coffee social in Phoenix, Arizona
became the start of a 6 year adventure called RunningCloud,
Adventures for Women.
It became a focal group within the Arizona women's
community, a place to find things to do, people to network
with, and a forum in which
other like minded women came together to form a comradery.
Dakota took all that she loved to do, and expanded it to
include the rest of the local girls. From outdoor adventures
such as hiking, rock climbing, kayaking or canyoneering to workshops based
on spirituality, creativity, and relationships to the simple
pleasures of life like coffee, dinners, game nights, and
even bowling. Now, after having relocated to South Carolina,
Dakota has once again found herself
in new surroundings with a desire to create a sense of
sisterhood in a place with an equal opportunity for new
adventures. Powerful women is about community, and strength,
and connection. It goes beyond the bars and idle chit chat,
beyond our regional borders and into the spirit of who we
are and where we are as women. This is a place where
every woman is not only welcomed, but embraced. |

"Are you having
fun?" That was the question my grandma often asked me when I
was working a corporate job and had little time left in a
day to experience life. I eventually took those words to be
a part of my creed for life - I moved out of corporate
America and into a career that allowed me freedom and
opportunity. Since the day I decided Grandma is right, I
have experienced life to extraordinary levels. I've been
able to travel to some of the most breathtaking and
exquisite places, I have met the most extraordinary people
one could imagine, I have had moments where tears were
brought to my eyes just because there was no other way to
express myself. I have felt pain, I have felt love, I have
been free, I have never been caged at least not without
being let go with a great lesson. I have been inspired and
have inspired those around me (or so they say). I believe
most of the time I see the inherit beauty and vulnerability
of the human spirit, I am empathetic to those around me -
sometimes to a fault. I laugh as much as I can, cry when I
need to, and sometimes use colorful language. And to answer
Grandma's question, yes - I am having fun,
life is good!
